**Quinton Powell UPDATE**

Daytona Beach Mainland linebacker Quinton Powell just told me Florida called this morning and said it doesn't have enough scholarships left to hold a spot for him in the 2013 class.

Powell added that this was not because the UF coaches weren't willing to wait on his NSD decision and said they never gave him an ultimatum of, 'commit right now or we're moving on.' He was told they simply don't have room anymore.

His two finalists were UF and USC, so he will be signing with the Trojans on Wednesday barring change.

Well, if you play the recruiting "game" and hold teams hostage until NSD then this is bound to happen from time to time.

lol, he is the one talking about trust. He walked away from UF. He should know that if he wanted a scholarship open then he should have stayed committed rather than playing games.

We have 26 verbals right now (26 was what i last read) unless I'm mistaken.

I doubt seriously that we do not have any scholarships available. I simply
dont believe that.

At the same time I'm not upset that Muschamp moved on.
If its true that all scholarships are taken then it should be an exciting
signing day!

LOL. Are you serious? Powell is the one who decommitted in the first place. This was his own doing. If he's gonna be mad at anybody he should be mad at himself. Had he held true to his commitment, he'd be a Gator. Sucks for him but he was the one who played with fire and he got burned. Wish him well.

I dont feel sorry for him at all (unless So Cal pulls their offer).

How can i feel sorry for a guy that is going to get a full ride to 1 of the
most storied football programs in the country.

Maybe we wanted a silent committment from him and he would not give it?

So if we have 26 commits, then we have 7 spots. I find it hard to believe we have 7 guys good enough to take those spots. We have to believe Muschamp is saving spots for next year right? Who are the 7 most likely guys?

Isn't Powell the same recruit who visited UF not too long ago and told Zach that he was completely committed UF and that it would take a lot for a school to flip him, then a day or two later decommitted? I mean... I get the frustration, but trust works both ways. He's probably just mad because it takes away his thunder of committing to USC on national signing day...

That being said... He is still a kid and I wish him the best (just won't pull for him since he will be playing for Lane Kiffin).

I like Powell a lot and believe he will be a good LB . However I admire programs for doing this. This might stop some Kids from playing Kid games. I know they all want their moment in the light but we are talking a full scholarship to a top notch university were most kids can't get accepted with less than a 4.4. And just like the DE Walker said he knew where he was going all along and still played a little kid game. UM did this to Kirkland (SP) and now UF is doing this to Powell . He had many chances to sign and commit? Good for Coach Boom. Now thats what I call laying down the BOOM

If he wanted to go to UF and have the NSD experience, he could have. It's called being silent commit. I wish him luck, and part of me really wanted to see him back in the class. The fact is, he could've had both things go his way. Chalk it up to a life lesson.

This just dawned on me.the coach who spoke to Powell may have meant
no more scholarships at LB are available.
