I liked your old av better, but if you're Pats fan, then more power to ya!
Go Gators!

Not really a Pats fan and frankly can't stand Brady. I like my old Av better too. It's a temp thing in celebration of all things Tebow mania. Sort of like going on vacation and weaing a wild flowered hawaiian shirt to a tiki hut beach bar and ordering a fruity drink while you watch all the idiots around you make fools of themselves. IOW, things you'd never do at home on a "normal" day.

I bet when decision time comes, if it's a close call whether to keep
or cut Tebow, excess fan-circus will tip it towards good riddance.
Hope Belichick wears out the media whore-horde, resulting in Tim
having a normal player's chance.

"Kraft Pulling For Tebow". Glowing endorsement from owner of Pats.

http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/i ... makes-team

"I don't get why people wouldn't relate to this guy big-time," Kraft said Friday. "For us, it was a great opportunity that he was on the street, not hired, and to have him come to our franchise. We like to collect people of good character. He's the real deal, and we have a lot of other players [like that]."

Kraft also said Tebow sets a good example in an increasingly "isolating" modern world.

"In this age of technology, where people are isolating themselves and going to their little instruments and spending hours of not interfacing with people, people who respect tradition, religion, spirituality, I think we need more of that in America today," Kraft said.

Kudos for Kraft. Will these positive statements get as much "play" and
respect as any "trash-Tebow" expository story ? Will Kraft now become
target of ridicule ? Rancor for breaking ranks. Wait see ?

Friday Times Union sports writer Frennette said this about Tebow :
1) he's the most polarizing player in FB
2) this is just a NE experiment
3) who knows what Belichick plans for him : TE, special teams, etc
odds and gimmickry
4) no way Tebow replaces Brady on 3rd or 4th and short, tries.

Then he denigrates media-types who don't just ignore Tebow and who
feed the Tebow circus. He doubts Tebow will be a Patriot next year.
Says NE made no investment 'cause there's no guaranteed money. ??

Is this some requisite Jaguar loyalty to dump on Tebow ?
Tebow signed 3 days back and Frennette hangs on to it instead of
some more "regular" sports story.

Your most pertinent point about Frennette was his Jaguar loyalty. Made me cackle. I needed that. Hey Frennette look at what the Jags have at QB! They could have hired a winner and leader yet they choose not too. Now they are stuck yet again.

Kraft's comments about Tebow are really uplifting especially after how much Tebow has been dumped on the past 3 years.

Absolutely. the anti Tebow media blowhards won't rip Kraft for signing Tebow. It's ano braoner for Kraft. Tebow will help the team make more money and he won't have to pay Tebow guaranteed money for 2 years. Kraft got a steal here.

I hope Tim takes advantage of this opportunity even though it may be a very limited one. If he really has improved his footwork and passing as some have said then he should be able to beat out Mallett for the #2 position during the preseason.

I'd love it if Tim beat out Mallet but ....
1) Mallet's been "with" the system 3 years
2) Mallet has footwork and throwing motion nobody messed with
3) Mallet is 6' 6" or 6' 7".
4) But he doesn't have Tim's fight or other multiple intangibles

It seems a worthy battle that Tim starts behind in .

Tebow costs Jets more in 2013 than Pats in 2013/14

Postby BoomTown » Fri Jun 21, 2013 1:14 pm

Jets will pay more for Tim Tebow next season than the Patriots
http://ftw.usatoday.com/2013/06/tim-tebow-contract-new-york-jets-new-england-patriots/
The Jets, who acquired Tebow from the Broncos in 2012, still owe Denver $1,531,875 as part of Tebow’s salary advance. After unsuccessfully shopping his contract during the offseason, the Jets will be stuck paying that amount over the coming season.

The Patriots signed Tebow to a two-year contract with no guaranteed money. Assuming he makes the Patriots’ 53-man roster, Tebow is scheduled to earn $630,000 in 2013, along with $525 in workout bonuses. His 2014 base salary is $730,000, plus $25,000 in workout bonuses.

All together, the Patriots are scheduled to pay Tebow $1,385,525 in base salary over the next two seasons. The Jets will be paying $1,531,875 … over the course of one season … for a player not on their roster.

Serves them right. They could have done the honorable thing and released him earlier than they did like most teams do.

Tebow's Double Sided Coin

Postby Alvin York » Fri Jun 21, 2013 5:10 pm

Legions of Tebow fans around the country were relieved and excited about his signing with the New England Patriots, a top notch organization that puts a premium on character and intelligence along with extreme football prowessl. I have to believe the fox, Bill Belichick, was playing possum until his rivals, the New York Jets, release Tm Tebow. A rare analyzer of football talent, Belichick, saw something in Tebow the others did not see and will no doubt craft scenarios where Tebow will bring it on for the good of the Patriot organization.

That being said I do see two sides of the coin. One side is Gung Ho and promising with Tebow getting the chance to play under an acknowledged football gurus like Coach Belichick and be mentored by one of the three best quarterbacks in the NFL, Tom Brady. The skies are clearing and golden days are ahead. Flip that coin over and see the downside. Even if Tebow was the second string quarterback what actual playtime will he get being an understudy to Tom Brady. How much playing time is out there for second string quarterbacks to Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers or Andrew Luck? Basically you're just going to be siting there with the clipboard in your hands the entire season without getting your feet wet. There is the possibility Belichick will only use Tebow as a third tight end or as a run potion QB on third /fourth down and short pays.

So there it is, a real tossup for Tebow's fortune with New England.
Regardless, the Patriots have pumped life back into Tebow's veins and he's still alive and kicking.
Still Our Royal Family!!
