Muschamp Launched Booster-Speak Tour

Postby rogdochar » Sat May 04, 2013 11:37 am

Article starts telling that Champ texts players daily relaying:
a) 92 days til fall camp (next day's text = 91 days)
b) "Are you better?"

Coach spoke first to Titletown Gator Club.
Flanked by cheerleaders they sang "We are the boys from Florida ...."
Our HC was relaxed, smiling (smiling eyes ?) and confident.
Said: "JD is our QB. We would not have won 11 games w/o JD at QB."
Said: "Sophomore Matt Jones ready as big-time SEC RB."
Said: "Expect OL to be stronger."

He praised Pease for shelving his ego and scaling down his playbook
to fit our Gator personnel. (??)
Hope HC demands/challenges players to stretch talents to grow into
an elevated O playing style.
Right now S & C coach Dillman is working his magic.
Go better Gators. Make SEC CG. Make headlines with cleat-prints.

GSMB has an 'opiniongator' who, with prescience, told us exactly what
HC Muschamp later told that first Booster Club in Gainesville, i.e...
... that UF's defense will drop some and UF offense will ascend
some ..... does the name "Ruby Begonia Gouryella" ring a bell ? :?

I bet he did thank Pease for that....

I hope Jones is plowing people over like T. Richardson was doing at Bama. That is what some are saying it looks like.

Ironic timing Joe. Coming up on the 33rd anniversary of that fateful day on May 9. I'll never forget growing up down in the TB area that morning getting ready for school and that squall line moving in off the Gulf, and how hard it was to comprehend the Skyway Bridge was in Tampa Bay...literally.

I think we should have an entire press conference where Rog asks all the questions to Muschamp.

The old man's name was Hornbuckle if I remember right. He and three friends were in that car heading to Sarasota to play golf. The car stopped about a foot from the edge, the four guys got out and crawled back up the dangling part of the bridge to safety in the downpour, but then, Hornbuckle tried to go back to his car and get his clubs out. No doubt in shock at the time. Here's a view from the other side to just show how damned close they were and how lucky they were......

I only went over the old bridge once in my life, it was scary as hell with that metal grating. The new bridge is nothing like the old one.

You are right GW about the old bridge being way more daunting than the new one. Also at one time there was just one old bridge and with one structure with two-way traffic it looked higher and moe steep than when they later added the second parallel structure.

My dad used to scare me to death driving over that old bridge because he would be looking all around and pointing out things. I used to mumble under my breath for God's sake pay attention to what you're doing. My dad had the seat belt alarm in our Olds Cutlass disconnected. That was back when seat belts were a new thing and before you had to pass those mandated car inspections that the state of Florida instituted. Dad said he did not want to be tied in with any seat belt if he ran off the bridge. He wanted to be able to get the hell out of the car. Never did quite fugue that one out.
