Pathetic Story about Greg Reid (FSU)

Postby BMF » Tue Apr 23, 2013 12:14 pm

AVENTURA — Greg Reid’s new life was supposed to begin June 29, when a healthy baby boy named Ayden saw the world for the first time.

Ayden was intended to be Reid’s savior. The baby’s arrival was meant to help Reid brush away past sins and focus on how to be a responsible father.

Reid couldn’t last two weeks.

Twelve days after the birth of his son, while leaving his South Georgia hometown of Valdosta for Tallahassee, Reid was arrested by a Georgia patrol officer on a series of misdemeanor charges.

A defensive back entering his senior year at Florida State, Reid was an All-America candidate who was expected to be a major playmaker for the Seminoles.

The arrest marked the beginning of the most tumultuous stretch of his already turbulent life.

“It’s been hell,” Reid said when asked to describe the months that immediately followed the arrest.

As dark as his days have been, though, Reid’s future may soon be much brighter.

By the conclusion of next weekend’s NFL Draft, he is hoping his luck will have completely changed. He is hoping his long-anticipated professional dreams will finally come true, and that he can more adequately take care of his growing family.

I can only imagine the positive effect that second hand pot smoke is going to have on baby Ayden.

Those charges in the story aren't that bad not sure what his previous ones were however.

The author is the FSU beat writer for the Orlando Sentinel. Don't expect a Pulitzer soon.

I mean, look how well Rachel George's career is going since she left the Sentinel's UF beat for "investigative journalism" with USA Today:

"Technology helped in search of Boston marathoners."

That right there is deep!

Well I didn't read the article but I can tell you a little more detail as to the decline of Reid. Perhaps Karma does truly exist.

After Reid got booted from FSU he came home to Valdosta and was quickly signed by the Head Coach at VSU. He was slayted to play on Special Teams and Defense. During one of the team practices for punt returns, he broke his ACL. Didn't even play one game.

So yeah, now how many tears are you spewing?

Yep, none from me too.

Also, I remember Reid's recruitment by UF (Urban Meyer) and I was very vocal then that I hoped UF didn't get him. To Meyer's credit, it's widely known that he was very up front and stern w/Reid and didn't promise Reid the moon. Of which he didn't like and went to FSU who was slobbering on his knob at the time. They deserved each other for sure.

Either you need to look in the mirror and accept you can't write jokes, or you were semi-serious in which case your writing is horrible. I hate the Noles as much as the next guy, bu your comments are weak, at best, and pitifully created.

Sorry for the piss and run, as I believe one should always offer something better if you are going to criticize someone or something. Instead, I'll just say I've been lurking for recent months, not much time to comment or get into discussions, but you inspired me. Nay, you demanded my response, with such a crap post. I simply couldn't stay quiet.
