UF At #13. Why Such Disrespect ?

Postby rogdochar » Fri Mar 15, 2013 8:55 pm

 We shouldn't be as low as #13, should we ?
1 - Are they judging that Gator team that only attacks from perimeter ?
2 - Trashing our ability to withstand the end-game determined push ?
3 - Condemning our inability to finish "business" at the rim ?

Well, will today's 80-58 victory make them think again about us having
losers' weaknesses ? If so, do we start to climb in # ranking ?

Today, Murphy got into that flow of in and out shot positioning ...
... 6/8 on 2s, 5/7 on3s (that's so right).... and due to being "in" a lot,
he got plenty of rebounds (erasing our weakness there). Hooray !

Our high % accuracy shooters took an increased # of shots ... giving us
increase # of scoring trips = contributed to LSU cracking many ways.
That, along with our excellent "never-desert-us" Defense.

*** Murphy + Scottie + Frazier = took 28 shots to give us 54 points.
--- Boynton+ Rosario+WY+CP etc = took 31 shots to give us 26 points.
Those 2nd-line shooters should work hard at drawing the defense to
dish to our upper tier shooters. Boynton's 7 assists shows he knew it,
but he still went 1/7 on shooting. Shoot lots if you're likely to hit 40%,
but not at 14.3%. Frazier hit at 3/5 at 60% --- shouldn't that earn him
the encouragement to take 7,8 shots and to dish 'e-fish' when D lunges
out to contest.

All this was some needed fine-tuning that rewards us greatly, and
makes it 'tuff' for anyone to keep up ... to threaten us at the end.
'Toilday's' game was one powerful version of the Gator squad that was
rated in the top 5 awhile back.

I'd love for Kenny to feel just right on hitting 2 of his first three
3-pointers and take it from there, with Rosario splitting asunder
their D with layups & slammable dishes. That's our other version
for being all we can be.

Wonderful game-style produced a great win-start on the SEC Trophy.
March on into March madly unbeatable. Grow Gators.

Losing half our gamers to unranked SEC teams is why we are that low. I wanna see them do what they did today more than 1 game in a row...

True "Numb-1", also the "way" we lost, sticks in 'rankerus' minds very
'graphstickly'. Today's way-to-play Gators will help erase it, if they stick
to such game-plan to stick it to them.

Watch for next game for Murphy to be bashed around. Then Young
needs to go Kong ... or Yeguete to go Kongette. :)

Lucky to be as high as we are when you don't win on the road.

Clad to see some higher ranked teams not taking their Conf. Tourney seriously.

With Duke, Michigan, and Georgetown losing, we might move up, particularly if we win our next two.

You got it "Ancient Rep", #2 Duke beat by 9 by not ranked Maryland.
#5 Georgetown (who jumped ship 'gainst us) beat by #19 Syracuse.
#6 Michigan beaten by 9 by # 22 wisconsin ( whom we beat by 20+?).

So surely the 'rankerous' ones were riding on the wrong "blandflagon" .
Rankings do not matter to winners, from here to each trophy goes #1.

Duke will still be a #1 seed.

Michigan State is also having problems. That would make a difference.

Of course, none of this matters if the Gators don't take a crash course in toughness.

Mich. St. is a 3/4 just as us. Has nothing to do with the 1/2 seeds.

Duke will be a 1. Georgetown a 2 and if we win out, a 3. If we lose, a 4.

This statement is not entirely true. Just look at the polls and how Indiana, Duke an 'Cuse did this season after big losses. Example - we never got blown out like Duke did at Miami. ESPN, Dickie V and othe commentators are so in love with the Big East and ACC in basketball they have the blindners on. Yeah BABY! :madevil:

Rankings mean nothing at this time of year, it's all about seeding. We can and will get a 2 if we win the SECT, mark my words. So you could say we have the opportunity to jump from 13 to 5 in one weekend's play. The fact that there aren't any teams left in the SECT that have beaten us makes things look that much more positive so don't sweat it.

Who cares? There will be some teams that don't rank in the top 100 who will soon be getting their well-earned chance to compete for the NC.

There is a reason no one watches basketball during the exhibition seasons.

For a team that blows out lesser competition, but comes undone and loses every close game against a decent team, #13 sounds about right.

There will only be 1 round of blowout wins in the dance. After that, pretty much all the teams will be decent and we will need to win a close game or two against a good team.

Glad to see them come back against Bama today though.

We should be higher than 13? Have you seen the teams ahead of us? They don't deserve to be there?

Our ranking is not that far off and deserved based on the not being able to win the close road games this season. We'll get all the respect we demand by winning over the next few weeks. Does it really matter that much if we are a 2 or 3 seed?

Polls don't mean jack **** to that committee sitting behind closed doors in KC right now. UF will lock up a 2 seed with a big win over Old Piss.
