Bulldogs @ Gaels
What the hell! I can't believe there isn't a thread on this game. #5 team in the country on national tv for everyone to see (including east coasters).
Zags jumped out to a lead to start the game and held it all the way till halftime when St. Mary's caught up and went to half leading by 1.
Zags have exploded to a 2nd half lead of 14 w/ 14:00 to play.
Good game.

Here's a stat for you they just mentioned...
In the past 10 years the Zags have only played a ranked team 5 times in the months of February and March (leading into the tourney).

Well... That's another W for the Zags. Great game as the Zags run away with a 17 pt win.
If anyone hasn't had the opportunity to check out Kelly Olynyk, you should. 7 footer draining 3s. He's going to be in the league. Fast, good footwork and a open range. Looks like a Dirk Nowitzki to me.

Which is why they don't make it beyond the Sweet 16 very often.

True, but not their fault. No one wants to put them on their OOC schedule for fear of being beat. Can't deny Mark Few is a great coach.

Totally disagree... basketball is not like football and most schools, especially the good ones, will schedule tough pre-league OOC games. Zags usually play in good pre-season tourneys and also have a decent OOC schedule because schools do schedule them. Gators did a few years back.
However, if your referring to the easy schedule in Feb and March, you are correct... no one will schedule them, but it's kinda their fault. The weak schedule is a reflection of the conference they are in and I don't know too many teams that schedule OOC games that time of the year. Gators have 2 SEC games per week with no breaks.
Don't disagree that Few is a good coach.

Totally disagree with you. Pre-season tourneys are based on who is invited, not who the team chooses or picks. Zags go where they are invited.
Yes, there are some home and homes, but they tend to split with the exception of Illinois this year.
Of course Feb./March is based on their conference. Just curious, without a football team what big conference is going to invite Gonzaga to join?
St. Mary's is another WCC team and usually ranked. They have no football team. A team in the WCC that as a stellar football team is BYU. Independent in football.

St. Mary's has an FCS football team.
And I watched most of this game last night, I was shocked by the lack of black players.

Speaking of the WCC...
Here's a crazy ending to the BYU St Marys game from earlier this year.
Tyler Haws scores for BYU with 2.5 second left to give the Cougars a lead...Then Delladova scores on a prayer halfcourt 3 pointer to win the game.

So right NVGator, this game was a captivator. Once I stumbled onto it
I could easily see it was well worth watching. First, because it was a
tight-fight, then 'cause those 'Zaga' players seem to play with a lot of
smiling joy of calm confidence.
Seems to be a "proud" program. They win enuf to become a moment
Cinderella team in March. Olynyk is a 7' but has some "acrobatic' body
control. Announcer says driving-guard Pangos practices body-contorted
shots in drills. He sure makes them in the game.
'Zaga has a 7'1" freshman from Poland : 305 lbs ? European bulkyball ?
Gonzaga has the talent and spirit to be worth watching. They smile ??
