Monday Morning Topic - Gators Ranking?
This is when we usually start it every week... I say #3 behind Duke and Indiana.
Michigan might jump us because they lost in OT on the road after a heave-ho, half-court buzzer beater to tie it in regulation (although it was to a team we beat by 18). No one from 7 down should pass us, although they are starting to show a lot of love for Miami and Gonzaga.
Polls will be out around noon.

I say 6ish is about right. The polls haven't been too friendly to us this year. No big deal. We just need to take care of business and get healthy.

Predicting the Miami lovefest Wobble? Besides puting it all together for that one game against Duke, and a tip-in at the buzzer last week to beat NC State by 1, who have they beaten? They lost to Florida Gulf Coast, Indiana State and got blown out by Arizona (on a neutral court, not by 1 at Arizona like we did).
That being said, I could see it happening since ESPN is now on the Blowhard Bandwagon.

No one cares what you did a month ago, they only care about what you are doing right now. Miami is winning and everyone in front of them is losing.

I would say this is pretty close to what we'll see.

Re: Monday Morning Topic - Gators Ranking?
Amazing how a team that lost soundly to florida gulf coast is even in the conversation for #1, like Whogator said. That should be impossible, with their losses to Indiana st. and blowout to arizona, I agree. Why is it, with every other team, the media talks about their entire body of work, and not just the fact that they are undefeated in conference? A logical observer wouldn't conclude that Miami is great, but that the acc isn't very good this year. (It isn't). Whatever, it shows how myopic and gullible the media is, and how they want to have a new "sensation" to hype up. Take a deep breath, espn.

Re: Monday Morning Topic - Gators Ranking?
Just spent a few minutes really looking at the teams' resumes. Is the SEC weak? Yes. Have you checked out Gonzaga's WCC? It's even more of a joke. And the ACC is not much better than the SEC with Duke and Miami as the only two ranked teams.
Gonzaga is 23-2, but in their OOC they have played just three teams in the top 25... they lost to Butler and Illinois and beat OkSt by one.
Miami has some bad losses and not much in quality wins. The Coaches had them #11 last week, I doubt that a 3-loss Miami team would jump a 3-loss Florida team in that poll.

ESPN Power Poll just came out...
Indiana stays at #1, Miami jumps 7 spots to #2, Duke up 1 to #3, Michigan down 1 to #4 and Florida down 3 to #5.
ESPN loves Blowhards... I will take a look at the 18 ESPNers breakdown.

Re: Monday Morning Topic - Gators Ranking?
Here's what some of the top teams have done last week:
#1 Michigan: 1-1; beat #10 Ohio St in OT; lost to unranked Wisconsin in OT.
#2 Florida: 1-1; lost to unranked Arkansas; beat Miss. St.
#3 Indiana: 1-1; lost to unranked Illinois; beat #10 Ohio St (It's safe to say that the Buckeyes won't be ranked in the top 10 this week!)
#4 Duke: 2-0; defeated NC ST & narrowly defeated BC 62-61.
#5 Kansas: 0-2; currently on a 3-game losing streak; lost to TCU & OU.
#6 Gonzaga: 2-0; no team is ranked in their conference.
#7 Arizona: 1-1; lost late Sun night to California 69-77 (another home loss for UA).
#8 Miami (#11 in Coaches'): 2-0; defeated North carlina 87-61 (Canes are having their best season ever!).
#8 Mich St in Coaches' poll (#12 in AP): 2-0
#9 Syracuse: 2-0
#10 Ohio St: 0-2
#11 Louisville: 1-1; it was delightful to see the cardinals lose in 5-OT to Notre Dame 104-101.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Analyzing the losses, Florida had a bad loss to Arkansas (but rpi of razorbacks jumped to 80). Best wins for the gators are the following:
Marquette (1st in BE); Wisconsin (2nd in Big 10) beat both Indiana & Michigan; Middle Tenn St (28 rpi), etc.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Poll predicition since almost everyone in the top 10 lost.
1. Duke
2. Michigan
3. Florida
4. Indiana
5. Miami (wouldn't be surprised to see UF at #5 & Miami at 3 or 4)
6. Gonzaga
7. Syracuse
8. Mich St (could be #7 in coaches')
9. Arizona
10. Kansas St
11. Butler
12. Kansas
13. Louisville
14. Ohio St

Losing WY hurts perception as well. Winning soundly against now ranked UK tomorrow will get peoples attention again.

Florida will barely win. I predict UF by 4.

Re: Monday Morning Topic - Gators Ranking?
It's ridiculous to place Gonzaga ("I play nothing but smucks") & Syracuse ahead of Florida!
Hopefully the #7 rankings will get the players attention that they have a lot of work to do to try to get a #1 seed. Kentucky is a team with 4-5 NBA future players. It won't be easy but this game will decide if Florida can again take control of the SEC race or not!

#6 in the coaches poll... http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings
Funny how our schedule is disrespected, yet Marquette and Wisconsin are both now in the Top 20 for the first time. They are considered a great team when they beat Indiana or Michigan, but not considered a good team when being beaten by the Gators soundly.

Miami #3. I may throw up.
With any luck, my time here is limited.
