If the refs were getting paid off in 5s, 10s and 50s, maybe. Otherwise, no. I don't know for a fact but I can imagine the NFL has an agreement to monitor the use of cash.

It does happen. It has happened. Don't be foolish to think it doesn't already.

Article makes it seem like all of pro-soccer is under the roof of one mafia-like casino. Since the roof crosses so many international
boundaries it is impossible to rein in. Bribery agents secretly given
assignments like hit-men fly to foreign capitals for a clandestine
meet, message, and $ bribe with a ref or two at controlling enough
of a game that mass bettings are guided to profit the "House" to
levels of multi-millions.
This radiates from Singapore, where Asian local officials are corrupt
as a matter of tradition.... says it's uncorrectable.
... and the fixing of Soccer is uncorrectable to boot. Author says those
major soccer championship games are no longer sporting events.
No wonder we see players doing phony-looking maneuvers. Their play-
actions matter not.

I saw some really bad calls in the last world cup. Makes you wonder.
