2013 CFN Pre-Preseason Rankings
Not a bad start.

1. Bama
2. Oregon
3. Florida
It’s lost in the storylines now, but last year at this time there were question marks about whether or not Will Muschamp could actually coach and the team was seen as a bit of an underachiever considering all the talent that Urban Meyer had amassed. The 11-1 season with dominant wins over South Carolina and Florida State on a run that came really, really close to finishing with a trip to the BCS championship came from out of left field, but all anyone will remember this offseason will be the Sugar Bowl clunker to Louisville.
There wasn’t a massive loss of talent early to the next level, but a lot of work needs to be done for a passing game that finished dead last in the SEC thanks to a line that couldn’t keep Jeff Driskel upright. Three starters are back up front, but battering ram running back Mike Gillislee is gone and Driskel has to be far better with almost all the key targets returning.
The defense that finished second in the nation in pass efficiency D and fifth overall in yards allowed and scoring gets seven starters back, hoping for everyone to stay healthy to fill in the gaps up front. The linebacking corps will be fast and athletic, but the bulk is gone with the graduation of Jonathan Bostic, and while losing All-America safety Matt Elam will be a problem, Loucheiz Purifoy will be one of the nation’s top corners and several options ready to step into the safety roles. Punter Kyle Christy will be in the All-America mix, but kicker Caleb Sturgis is gone.
4. LSU
5. Texas A&M
6. Texas ????
7. UGA
8. USCe
9. Louisville

Speaking of FSU, how in the Wild World of Sports did Christian Ponder land Samantha Steele?

We return 7 on Defense? We lost Hunter, McCray, Bostic, Jenkins, Elam, Floyd, Evans??
I like being 3rd, but when the polls that matter come out we'll probably be closer to 8-15. They are right about the loss to Louisville as the primary thing most people will remember...and that's a shame.

Little surprised Oregon at #2 with Kelly leaving.

Re: 2013 CFN Pre-Preseason Rankings
I think we are ranked too high. The middle of the field defensively is going to be suspect with our starting tackles, 2/3 starting linebackers and both starting safeties gone. I think our replacements will do fine but will it be enough to go to the SEC or national title game?

We lost a whole bunch on defense. I don't think these guys have a clue. Their credibility is gone when they don't even know what happens to a team's defensive starters.
Bad and worthless.

Re: 2013 CFN Pre-Preseason Rankings
Regardless of what poll you're looking at, there are gonna be 5 to 6 SEC teams in the Top 10. This one has 6. That's gonna make for a whole lot of SEC teams "eating their own," or cannibalization of the league. Even Bama in the West has to contend with, in addition to LSU, aTm. It'll be interesting to see if the SEC can once again produce a team in what will be the final BCS Championship game to go for 8 in a row.

Re: 2013 CFN Pre-Preseason Rankings
Trust me, ohio state and notre dame will be ranked pretty high once the real polls come out. People can't help but vote those way too high every year. We probably shouldn't be as high as 3 seeing as how our offense has been a travesty for 3 years straight and I don't see any reason to believe it is going to show mass improvement next year. Please please please prove me wrong gators.
