And then add Debose. 6 out of 7 were Urban's recruits.

Thanks Urbs.

Re: SEC’s biggest five-star busts in last 10 years
notice how many of ours are located in the class's07-09. things like that can create a problem for teams in '10-'12. Guys that should be starters at the least and studs at the best either never made it on the Field (brown) flamed out (davis, patchen) or never really developed into anything other than role players (hill, wilson). IF you are curious as to how we can go 8-5 and 7-6 in consecutive years, here is your answer.

Our success with 5-Star DTs has been pretty bad.

Have we had any great DT's outside of Floyd since the Spurrier days? Was Warren Spurrier or Zook or an overlap?

Gerard Warren was during the Spurrier years.

I certainly wish he could have gotten his act together, but as far as I'm concerned, Torry Davis earned all five of his stars with his consecutive crushing tackles on our goal line stand against Oklahoma to help us win the national championship game. Without those two stone cold tackles, who knows what would have happened in that game. Oklahoma was moving the ball at will and we were struggling.

Torrey davis' goal line stand vs Oklahoma made him worth the scholly. Hill's pic vs Georgia was great as well.

Marcus Thomas was solid and a consistent playmaker.
Don't know if I'd call him a Gator great but he certainly made his fair share of plays during the '06 title run.

Yeah, but the good news is our 3 star kids weren't very good either.

Apparently, Terrence Cody, Marcel Darius, Terrence Farmer, Marquis Maze, Javier Arenas, Greg McElroy, Glen Coffee, Marlon Davis, Chance Warmack, and Jessica Parker Wilson didn't make the Trailerbammer's list.
They list Jalapeno and Trey as our standouts.
Our three star guys aren't even as good as the ones that DIDN'T make the list for Trailers.
I hope Champ learned from Satan how to develop those 3 star kids.

Big Money looked dominant even as a true freshman. I don't remember that happening, at least for us.

I would almost throw Hunter on the list but his last season was alright.
Other than that though not very good

The only problem with your theory is that Champ is not going to sign 100 3-star kids a year, find the diamond in the rough and discard the waste like Saban used to be able to do....

Did he play in 06 very much? I thought he was suspended until LSU then lasted a week or two and got kicked off the team?

Xavier Nixon not being on that list is a shammockery. I know he stood on the field a bunch but he sure didn't contribute anything unless you want to credit him with some of Tebow's scrambling yardage and Brantley's complete pass to himself.
Debose? pffffft this list is worthless without him.
sCam? didn't do crap for us
Honorable mention: Carl Moore (he was a 5 star? I didn't remember that. He wasn't bad but he certainly wasn't 5 star AJ Green or Julio Jones.)

That's kind of what I remember. He had an issue with the demon weed.

Heard on the radio today that only 2 of the top 20 players in the country from 2009 has made any kind of significant impact for their teams. Recruiting is a bigger crapshoot than the NFL draft and look at the time, money and resources they spend researching their picks.

As previously said, Torrey's two OK tackles gets him off the list. Wilson stayed with it and had a solid sixth season. He doesn't belong there. I think Finley was 5 stars at one time. John Brown was high 4 stars. They might belong.

Dee Webb had a chance to be a star but left a year early. He could have been a starter on the NC team with a great and dominate D-Line.

It's amazing the 5-star "busts" or duds we've had.
Omar Hunter isn't necessarily a "bust"...just wasn't a star. He's listed at 6'1, but my bet is he'll be 6' or shorter once the NFL measures him.
Crowell (for UGA) was very solid for them in his only season. Because he transferred makes him a bust?
