New number font for Florida football jerseys?
Here's a useless offseason observation for you guys.
Florida OL commit Rod Johnson visited UF over the weekend and posted this pic. https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos- ... 1792_n.jpg
The number font on his jersey is different than the last player who wore it. http://media.trb.com/media/photo/2010-11/57844772.jpg
If Johnson's jersey is indeed the new look, what do you think?

Did they leave it in the dryer too long or is it the slim fit style?

Perhaps it's my eyesight but I'm not sure I see a discernible difference between the fonts? The color is a lighter blue (or so it seems) but the font?

The old font has multiple colors outlining it. I think orange and blue? The new font is plain. Just white. I like the old font. The numbers are more pronounced.

I had to lock several times to see the difference. One corner of the fives is squared off instead of being chamfered. No big difference in my mind.

Looks good, IMO. Identical font, same bordering, just slightly more boldface numbers.
Edit: The long vertical line on the 5 comes to a 90 degree turn rather then beveled. Otherwise, the same.

The jersey blue looks a lot lighter than the Pouncey pic too.

The bottom of the 5 is a little more curved.
I don't care for the new font. The original looks better!

Re: New number font for Florida football jerseys?
That's not just a new number font, but its a new cut as well. This could potentially be a mock-up that Nike sent since we have only used that cut once (the most recent Outback Bowl- which was a white jersey), but it could be what we're moving to. Alabama went to it a couple seasons ago, and I have been surprised that we haven't gone there yet.
The most distinctive feature is the "sweatbox", which is that rectangle block of fabric just beneath the jersey numbers. The numbers, the shoulders, and the side panels are a heavier material to absorb contact, while the rest are a high performance mesh. Unfortunately, when players sweat, it turns different colors (on our current/old jerseys- just the shoulders were that reinforced material). You can't see it in the photo, but it should also have "flywire" on the collar- which just looks like laminated lines. It also looks like the inside of the jersey is printed with a Gator skin pattern, which is pretty pointless but the kind of thing Nike likes to do.
The numbers themselves look like a mix between the traditional block numbers and the italicized numbers the basketball team wears (similar to what was on our last "pro combat" jerseys against UGA a few years ago). The outlining is two color, but it does appear thinner while the white body is thicker.
Those are all the nerdy details. I am a big uniform guy and an avid reader of the UniWatch Blog, so I find this stuff interesting even when it's not the high of offseason boredom...
Peace
Dan

Re: New number font for Florida football jerseys?
There is a noticeable difference in fonts here.
Notice the font width, which takes away from the orange/blue outline and gives it a less vertical look. Secondly, notice the bottom "curve" and usage of an additional 90 degree angle.
Don't care for it.

This may be the biggest disaster the University of Florida has ever faced.
