Computers Love the #1 Gators
Just like in football, computers seem to love the Gators and Sagarin has us at #1. This was going into the week so the Duke/Louisville/Arizona losses have not been taken into account yet.
Poll........................................Rank
Sagarin Top 50...........................1
Massey Ratings Top 50................3
RPI Men's Basketball Top 70..........6

Well of course we like being near the top...Shows us our team is playing well, but the good thing is with college BB as we all know, is that thing called March Madness! As long as we play well and get in we always have a shot to play our way into the big dance! If this team will stay focused I believe they can do it!

Agreed, keep their heads on their necks. They have the talent to go far this year.

This illustrates why the polls are a joke. Most of the top teams are there based upon reputation versus performance.
The good news is that basketball has this wonderful thing called the tournament so the polls have limited impact.

We're also ranked a very solid first in ESPNs new BPI poll, which is a power ranking similar to the RPI.
BPI RK TEAM CONF BPI
1 Florida SEC 92.1
2 Duke ACC 90.9
3 Kansas Big 12 90.1
4 Indiana Big Ten 90.1
5 Michigan Big Ten 90.1
I don't know what half of it means, but I do know that it includes win differential, where games are played, sos of teams played, and even if you're missing top players from your rotation.

This Donovan team makes me a little nervous because it loves the outside shot and yet has no consistent scorer from the perimeter.
If we go deep in the NCAAs it'll be a story similar to the 2012 football team, built on a deep roster that allows the coach to constantly rotate in fresh bodies and keep up the defensive pressure, leading to lots of turnovers.

I hate to say this, but like Pearl's TN teams that had no tourney runs?

Odd isn't it that this team's hope for getting "even better" resides
more on Wilbekin, Yeguette and Prather filling out their potential
rather than Young or Boynton.??

Where will the Gators be in the AP and Coached Polls after the weekend if they win today? Didn't a few teams lose this week?

With a win tonight, the Gators should be no worse than #3 in the human polls.

Thanks, I just started a new thread because I wasn't sure who had lost this week.

What's odd about that Rogdo?
Young,Boyton and Murphy have already achieved their potential. We know what we have with them.
On the other hand, we continue to see dramatic improvement from Wilbekin. Rosario seems to be buying in to the team D. If Prather can come back healthy - and rest of team stays that way - this could be a special year.

I was thinking it ought to come more naturally that Young would
advance to averaging 15 points, 12 rebounds ... and Boynton up
to averaging 18 points, Murphy 18 points. Why not ? It's my request.

One of the best things about this team is how they complement each other so well. There is no one dominant "go to" guy. They can all score. It's a nightmare for the opposing team to gameplan. UF just goes with the "hot hand" that particular evening.
Early on, teams would sag off on Wilbekin, since he hadn't shown much on offense. He's now become more aggressive in scoring, hitting 3's and pull-up drives to the hoop. Even Yeguete is putting up some points.
They can both score from 3 pt line and inside - Very tough team to defend.
And then there's there D...
