That's what I was thinking. He loses to UF and their season doesn't look that impressive - their schedule was a joke. I like Charlie, but Louisville seriously overreacted and overpaid.

I'm sure schools like Louisville get tired of the revolving door of coaches that use their school for a stepping stone. To combat that, you have to pay as much as the big boys.

I guess the way the AD was looking at it, he'd rather pay Strong and assure he won't jump at another offer at a bigger school than having another replacement like the coach after Petrino(I can't remember his name), who set Louisville back several years. The AD seems serious about having a top 20 football program as well as a top tier basketball program.

Charlie could be the HC at UF if the timing was right. The guy would make that much somewhere at some point so who cares if it's at Louisville? They've had a handful of good coaches leave the second they got a better offer. This is them trying to build on something special instead of constantly being a stepping stone program.
