Like I said elsewhere, finishing behind fsu, tex a/m and s. carolina when we beat them and have a better overrall body of work, with wins against 4 top-10 teams, is dubious ranking at best, almost as if the pollsters are counting the consolation bowl game as worth almost as much as the rest of the season. During the rest of the season, we were still playing for a potential national title, in the sugar we were not. Not nearly the same motivation, and it showed. Pollsters should understand that. Oh well.

this is exactly why i hate the poll system...it's not a true ranking its a freaking sliding scale where you lose and have to fall back a certain number of spots. If it were a true ranking there would be no way in hell fsu or USCe would be ranked in front of us after the beat downs we put on them. I can see Texas A&M being ahead because they have improved by a large amount over the season and there could easily be an argument that they would beat UF now.

If you use the X team beat Y and they had the same record so X needs to be ranked better, you have to use it for everyone.

So the rankings would look something like this:
1. Alabama
2. Oregon
3. Notre Dame (has to finish behind Alabama)
4. Georgia (has to finish behind Alabama)
5. Stanford (has to finish behind Notre Dame)
6. Kansas State (has to finish behind Oregon)
7. Louisville
8. Florida (has to finish behind Louisville)
9. Texas A&M (has to finish behind Alabama and Florida)
10. South Carolina (has to finish behind Florida)
11. Florida State (has to finish behind Florida)
12. Clemson (has to finish behind Florida State)
13. LSU (has to finish behind Alabama, Florida, and Clemson)

P.S. I know Georgia lost to South Carolina, who lost to Florida, who lost to Georgia.

This poll is history. It is in the past. Nothing wrong with looking at the past, knowing the past, learning from the past.

Did you hear what Saban said right after the big game. He said he would allow himself to take 48 hours off then he would begin work to build next year's Alabama team. Saban does not wear his championship ring. He doesn't worry about championships. He only worries about getting better

Next year no one will remember if Florida finished number 9 or 10. No one will know where Notre Dame or Louisville finished. The only thing that will be remembered is that Alabama won the National Championship. No one will remember that Notre Dame went 11-0. They will only remember that ND got curbed stomped by Bama.

Who thinks Gators unsportsman-like behavior caused a resentment

Everyone needs to step back on refsu you all know very well that they WILL Be back next year, that's how they are ahead. And come on Johnny Football what can you say? He's already won next years game single handed. Spurrier well he will have a two headed QB next year and we can't cover both.
So that's what they must be thinking those thinking heads.

While I do agree that some of the lesser bowls are pointless, I do not believe that the BCS bowls are.

A BCS bowl game attracts a larger televised audience and is another useful recruiting tool. The participants used to get a pretty good payout before ESPN bought coverage rights and the bowl commissioners began requiring Universities to purchase tickets, hotel rooms, travel arrangements, etc.

The expendatures accrued just to play in a "runner-up" bowl makes the transition to the +1 format that much more welcoming.

All teams # 5-thru-#14, would give Alabama a tougher game than
#4 ND. Better than 80% chance that those SEC teams improve on
these rankings by next year's 10th game.

That ranking is the result of a go to hell showing at the Sugar Bowl, Im sorry, a go to hell no showing at the Suagr Bowl. I truly hope Will has learned a valuable lesson from that debacle in a BCS bowl. We should have handled Louisvile and we know it but WM didnt prepare his team. Hope he watched Monday nights game because right now he couldnt wear Sabans dirty jock. It better get better next year Will.
