The Will Grier Countdown Begins...
Let's hope this kid sticks to his commitment for the 2014 class.
I'm not saying he's gonna be the savior (although he could be), but at least he's put up some record breaking numbers in high school and is the son of a coach. Despite the growing pains, at least he'll be able to "get it" in terms of the passing game.
My optimism for Driskel isn't as great as it once was. Hopefully, I'll have to eat my words next year, but we'll see.

MattM mentioned in another thread that Grier plays against terrible competition. Watch this youtube clip from his junior year highlights. Rather than focusing on the beautiful rainbows (I don't think this kid can throw a dart) that drop into the receivers' hands despite double and triple coverage, focus your eyes on the defenders.
Some of those kids are smaller than kids I played against in pee-wee football

At least he's a thrower. driskel is a runner who's trying to be a thrower.
This kid is more like Johnny Football.

Don't know about the size issue, but I am wondering what it is to come from a "day school." Would this be the place working parents bring their kids?

Well his dad is the coach, maybe he's the babysitter during the day?

That would make sense.

while im not saying that i think the kid isn't good (i actually think he is regarding my many to be a damn fine QB and will be highly rated next year...again that doesn't mean anything either) but i believe John Brantley won a similar award in HS

Unless he is Andrew Luck, wont matter if we dont have some receivers.
To hell with you.

Oh, I agree, anything can and does happen. But right now, no one would say he's not a top flight QB with a straight face. There are still a few question marks but there are with all recruits, especially juniors. He's got height now and is still filling out but he won't be a big sturdy guy. This year he has some good match-ups and he'll camp with major talent at major events, that will go along way in determining where he fits at the next level. But for right now he has the most promise and is doing a hell of a job recruiting for us now.

Part of the reason he committed so early was to get a jump on helping to recruit for his class. Hopefully his commitment also helps get a receiver in this class as well.
