Sugar Bowl Bet

Postby NVGator » Mon Dec 31, 2012 10:39 pm

OK, serious question for the board....

UF opened at a 15 pt. favorite and has since moved to 14 pts. The move was right after the opening.

So, if you have $100.00 to bet on this game, do you take Florida minus the points or Louisville taking the points?

No doubt I believe Florida will win, but that is a large line for the offense to cover.

As a teaser, the Ov/Un is 45.5. This has dropped from 47. Leads me to believe the lean is Louisville + the points and the Under.

I'd love some serious thoughts as I will be at the Sportsbook tomorrow.

I never bet against the Gators, and I'm not sure I'd take the points either way. But damned if I wouldn't bet the under....

Bet the over, but the Gators won't cover. Charlie will have a trick or two up his sleeve.

No big surprise from your response law. Can't you just have an actual serious thought and leave others out? It's pretty simple, either you think Florida will win by 2 TDs or you don't.

UF 34
UL 24

I think both teams will hit at least two big 50+ yard scoring plays each. Our run game wears them out late however.

I'll be REAL surprised if they score 2 tds. This is a team that lost to Marshall last year.

Given our offensive struggles this year I'd take Louisville +14.

Think of it this way: we played eight other FBS teams with a winning record on our schedule, and only once did we win by more than 14 points.

I have not heard of any reports that the OLine isn't healthy, so I'd have to give the points and take UF. I think UF will be focused to go out big. Probably the last game for Floyd, Elam, Reed, Jenkins, and Easley, not to mention Bostic, Evans, Hunter, Gilly, and those on offense. The fact that the Seniors were here and then had 2 crappy seasons and are now back. I don't see them letting this one slip. Plus this could be huge for recruiting if UF blows out UL. If the D is on point, this could be worse than the FSU game.

I'd give the points with our OLine healthy and rested. I think we'll run with success, and there should be a few big plays downfield with Louisville selling out on the run.

It does seem like an unsubstantiated spread until you take into consideration how capable UF's defense is at turning a game on the dime with turnovers.

Look what happened against USCe and FSU. Big margins due to turnovers.

I wouldn't touch that line. UF has a way of keeping every game close.

Very true Ox. If the Muschamp muzzle is not on Pease, I think we could put up some points and no one scores much on our defense. I just hope the defense has their head in this game with so many going pro.

Goddamnit Q! I went against my own gut feeling for 4 weeks and allowed my heart to persuade me to pick Florida -14.5.

I had Florida -14.5
Florida -14.5+Over 48
Gilly Over 93.5 yards
Longest TD Ov 46.5. (thanks for the KO return)
