Entire team played better. I think Donovan had Wilbekin run the
point and let Boynton get experience at shooting guard.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------total
K.B.-- 1/3 on 2pt shots (33%)------ 3/7 on 3pt shots (42.8%)------ 14
E.M.-- 6/7 on 2pt shots (85.7%) ---2/3on 3pt shots (66.6%)------- 21
P.Y. --- 6/9 on 2pt shots (66.6%)--------------------------------------- 13
C.P. --- 4/5 on 2pt shots (80%)------------------------------------------ 9
M.F. ---1/1 on 2pt shots (100%)---1/2 on 3pt shots (50%)----------- 5
I guess with the burden of directing the floor, Wilbekin's % accuracy
dropped. Bet he acclimates quick to up his shooting % and that will
make this team better.
Couldn't get minutes played but bet freshman Frazier played too
few minutes & so scored more per minute played than all. That
seems a indicator that his minutes be increased, provided TOs
aren't his problem.
I still think Young can average near 20 points/game ... with Murphy
staying near 20 points. If K.B. retrieves his usual shooting touch,
his average will be near 18 points/game. Casey Prather is doing
just fine moving his average upward past 10 pts/game at the
team's highest % accuracy. As Frazier's playing minutes climb, so
will his point total contribution.
So, if this game wasn't some fluke where we return to accepting
too low a FG%, then Gators should have their solid chance at
winning SEC-season + SEC-tourney + in it for the Final Four.

Was at the game today. Frazer could not guard anyone today and was in foul trouble most of the game. We physically overmatched this team and yet for the whole first half we would not go inside to Young or Murphy. This team is frustrating in the lack of touches they get in the paint. That changed in the second half, and we opened up a big lead. The team, especially Boynton, seemed to play better with Wilbekin on the point. He just has to make free throws. He missed a bunch in the second half. Hopefully Billy uses the second half film as a good starting point. Boynton had wide open threes because the ball was going inside. Not the best performance ever, but a solid win to head into conference play.

"CC" good report. Thanks for being there for the Gators. I'll accede
to your knowledge on Frazier. I only based my like of him on his being
a freshman and scoring well per so few minutes . He did have a 17 pt
game awhile back. Hope he develops into highly useful. Good to hear
about Boynton's switch... probly get better in a few more such games.

It will be good for this team to settle into league play. This was one of the most exciting and challenging pre-seasons for men's hoops that I can remember. Our ranking is more realistic now and the guys know they have to work harder and play more consistently to beat the top teams, especially on the road.
I like the players we have and have seem them mesh well in some of the tougher games. I still believe we have an Elite 8 team that can improve to make the Final Four.
