Are FSU's indoor practice facilities better than UF's?
The Tampa Bay Times ran a story recently feauturing FSU's new indoor FB practice facilities and saying Jimbo expect them to give rise to a NC. Are their facilities better than ours? What does UF have?
I expect comments on Jimbo's expectations, but maybe someone will answer the question.

We don't need an indoor practice facility (IPF) to win a NC. FSU does need a new coach, to take UF off their schedule, and a lot more than a new IPF. They were already getting top recruits: they just can't develop them or coach them well. Enough said.

UF does not have an indoor "practice" facility...

Because the ACC just doesn't prepare you.

Thanks. Is the thought that, with the Florida weather, we don't need them?

Re: Are FSU's indoor practice facilities better than UF's?

The argument that we don't need an indoor facility because of the Florida weather doesn't hold water. We have lightning, wind storms, rain etc. Although sometimes it may be good to practice out in the rain to get the feel of playing in the rain.
I don't like indoor athletic stadiums. Sports like football and baseball should be played outdoors and under different weather conditions. That is all a part of the game, the strategy, the unpredictable nature of things.
And I think money can be better spent on something besides an indoor practice facility. Are indoor practice facilities any good? Sure they are. What the problem is if your competition has them, then you are going to have to build one to compete. Sure good athletes are going to come to Gainesville indoor facility or no indoor facility. But there will be a few that will be lured elsewhere because of the other places have an indoor facility. By us having an indoor facility it removes or neutralizes one of the recruiting advantages an opponent will have to offer.
In competitive sports you are either spending money and putting in the time to move things forward. If you are not keeping up with the competition then you are falling behind. Tradition, location, the campus, the town, the people, the coaches, the other players, all of those things are important, more important than an indoor facility. But if you are going to compete with Florida State and the SEC teams then you are going to have pony up the money or be prepared to fall behind. That goes for Alabama and LSU and Florida if they want to stay ahead as well as for Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss if they want to just keep their head above water.

I think it has to do with the fact that an indoor practice facility has only become a recent trend in college football and UF has yet to feel the "need" for one.
And yes, the year-round warm weather certainly makes the construction of such a facility (for an outdoor sport) more of a luxury than a needed expenditure.
It's only a matter of time before Foley opens the ole' wallet for one...
and, as always, it will exceed what F$U has..

Because the ACC just doesn't prepare you.

Why practice indoor when you can practice outdoor?

Hey, Jimbo. The keys to the facilities are in your purse. Right next to the tampons.

they are building something by our practice field. I've not been over that way in a couple weeks but something is being built there.
In the end we're all just chalk lines on the concrete Drawn only to be washed away

Re: Are FSU's indoor practice facilities better than UF's?
Granted it was 10 years ago so I don't know what has been built since then but I did get to tour FSU's facilities when my high school team went to play Tallahassee Rickards one year in the playoffs. At the time their indoor facility was a fairly nice high bay building with artificial turf probably roughly half the total area of a real field. This was the room we used to get dressed and do final walk-throughs after getting to see the weight room, locker room, etc...
I was also lucky enough to get to tour UFs facilities my last year there in 2010 and UF's blew FSU's away but in fairness as mentioned earlier, it was 10 years ago I walked through FSUs.

Did state lotto or taxed dollar pay for Semannoys' indork wig-wam ?
Remember, Arizona State's $8.4 million ,state of the art indoor
practice facility, finished in mid-July polished off in August by
a high-winds storm. Since not yet used, no one was inside to get hurt.
One female student said "Good riddance. That was one ugly structure."
Oh, the winds were just below mildest tornado classification =
approaching 100 mph.
It was "state of the art" metal walls with bladder inflated roof.
A steel structural roof probably would have allowed the building
to weather the storm. But mental-giants wanted it to only cost
$8.4 mil instead of $8.6 mil for best roof.
ASU practices only outdoors now.

will they have to put a classroom in it so that the state taxpayers will foot the bill? How will they afford it with the program running so low on money?

Interesting. I hope someone researches this and puts it out for the public and most importantly recruits to see, if they are getting it bc of others' tax dollars.

that must have been what Urbs said after the 09 loss to Bama, "if only we had that indoor practice facility we would have won the title."
I bet most coaches, after a BCS championship loss, utter those exact words...
Indoor practice facility, please...

Maximize it's use for female athletics. File for some Fed-Gov grant.
Borrow or lease FSU's lobbyist.
