What Bill Stanfield did to Spurrier that day probably cost us a couple of losses or more in the 90s.

Reading about his tree further down in the comments, GA Mangus was a QB
at my kids highschool in Marietta (Walton) and later at UF

From 'annoyusmust' sources, I have it that, that morning, Stanfill took
an huge injection of "Sports Illustrated" cover ink.

To further the coaching tree:
Ellis Johnson (USM)
Buddy Teevens (Stanford, Dartmouth)
Jed Fisch (not a head coach yet, but the OC at Miami)
Numerous HS coaches:Shane Matthews (nease)
Josh Corey (fletcher)
Jimmy Ray Stephens (ft walton beach)
Demetric Jackson (ft white hs)

The Ole Ball Coach, not old ball coach. And yes they call him the Head Ball Coach, and some other things not meant for print.
Gator Since 1970... So the government built GSMB?

When I got corrected on this many months ago I promised that I would spread the truth. Spurrier NEVER referred to himself as the "Ole Ball Coach" and neither did the press. He was always the "Head Ball Coach". The name change came about after he went to the Redskins. Trust me. I did the research then to try to prove myself right and instead re-learned the truth along the way. There's an article that I've long since lost where SOS explains how he thinks the evolution came about.

Gee, sorry I left him off the list. Seriously, I don't even think he's in coaching any more. I read somewhere he started his own business. I believe his last job was at UNLV. He seemed like a rising star in the coaching ranks...but fizzled pretty quickly.
Another coach, from that era, is Brian Schottenheimer (a back up QB under Spurrier).

Re: Spurrier
Reidell Anthony coached for a few years w/ Chris Hatcher at Valdosta State. He's coaching at Belle Glades Central now (not sure why he got out of college coaching, but there isn't much money in small college coaching). He also coached at Trinity Catholic (for John Brantley Sr.).
http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/highscho ... s-central/
Quezzie (Green) is an assistant at Lincoln HS (Tallahassee).
Ike Hilliard coaches WR's for the Redskins.
MIke Degory (mostly played under Zook) was an OL coach at New Mexico under Mike Locksley. He was also a GA at Illinois (under Zook). Not sure where he is now. Cheston Blackshear coached at NMU also (TE's coach). Not sure where he is either.
Terry Jackson is involved w/ the UF program now.
Anyone know what happened to Aubry Hill since he left the WR job earlier this year?
Other notable Gator non-Spurrier coaches:
Kim Helton (current OC at UAB, former HC at Univ of Houston)
Lindy Infante (NFL & USFL head coach)
John Reaves
Gene Chizik
Gailey (previously mentioned)
Galen Hall (not a former player, OC at Penn State)
Mike Shanahan (again, not a former player: former UF OC)
Good Chris Doering story: http://www.insitegainesville.com/curren ... ering.html
Obviously, Jesse Palmer has done well for himself.

No...he was a quarterback....played in the nfl AS a quarterback, was an offensive coordinator for years, and a head coach.

Kerwin? Kay Stephenson? If it's not one of these two I'm done playing trivia.
