Patric Young
Throwing down some gum by the scorers table and then shooting the blue Steel a la Derek Zoolander! Funny stuff.

Re: Patric Young
Does anyone hear think Patrick Young's play, so far, is tamping down
his NBA signing bonus ? He routinely scores low & has low # of
rebounds, compared to elites like Duke's Plumlee and others ?
I see him being a beast at times, but he seems most proud of
not fouling ? He's 12th in SEC in rebounds ? ... less experienced,
shorter Yeguete is 13th, not even 1 rebound/g behind him.?
UF has no scorer in the top 250. That's as far as the reach,
somewhere like 13ppg?
I'd sure feel more comfortable and more proud if we had a player
or 2 in some of those recognizable stats. I know, I know, we spread
all those things around and we win that way. Still, I'd like a beast
that averages at least 10 rebounds, 17 points.

Honestly, Young has been underwhelming so far. If he didnt look like a beast and had the same stats, no one would care. Hes still so raw and has stone hands. He seems like a great guy, and is a solid player, but, to get the media love he does he isnt producing. I feel like he would get destroyed in the NBA with his game right now. Glad hes on the team, but more glad that WY, Murphy and Wilbekin are on the team playing defense, hustling and getting rebounds. And, that Rosario is coming into his own and that Frasier (sp) is balling out off the bench (Boynton better wake the F up or he may, but wont, get passed up). Still upset over the Zona game though, geeeez! lol

Re: Patric Young
Actually, why shouldn't svelte-muscled 6'9" Patric Young be of similar effectiveness as 6'6" Charles Barkley, "pounds of ground round" ?
Who gave all SEC teams fits scoring & especially rebounding.
I love us having Patric. But why when we finally get a beast, does
it have to be one suitable for a Petting Zoo ?

Re: Patric Young
If you watch Young play, he's not fluid. He's muscled up and all that, but he doesn't seem to have the balance and agility of a great athlete. He'll probably find and NBA home, but shouldn't be a lottery pick. The NBA did wonders with Parsons and Lee coming out of college (neither were "great" in college), their first years showed significant improvement over Sr yr at UF. Maybe some NBA coaches can coach him up. For me, I've seen Young get pushed around at times too, how that happens I don't know. But by far the biggest complaint I have is that he insists on blocking shots out of bounds. It's not like a dunk, take a lesson from Bill Russell and use a block to create points in transition rather than just giving the opponents the ball back. Just don't think his bball IQ is very high.
