Dear Coach
Butch Jones
.So this is the best solution Jimmy Haslem's billions could buy? No comment.
I assume there will be the standard fanfare where the newly hired head coach makes the standard speeches with the standard positive outlook.
Excuse us if we're not awestruck and dancing in the streets. Butch Jones has a long way to go and a short time to get there as he braves the tsunami of the SEC. There's one other headache we'll have to endure. The lizards and other rivals will call him BJ and the BJ jokes will run rampant.
Dear Coach
Mediocrity is not an option. Action speaks louder than words. The people of Tennessee will be waiting for your E=MC(squared) formula and we'll hand out your report card.
Best wishes
Good luck

Re: Dear Coach
First the "billions" were not in play.
Second it probably was the best that could have been done.
UT is not that good of a job anymore. Very difficult competition, very demanding fans, need for national recruiting.
Difficult job, not that great compensation, and low probability of long term success.
Many must accept reality and lower their expectations.

Ok, I can go long with your comment...at least he was a head coach. I will give you a C- on the hire. I don't usually include BJ jokes when a woman isn't involved call me old fashion. So you can BJ joke yourself
Gator Since 1970... So the government built GSMB?

Actually that could work out well since they will likely be Jonesing for a new coach in about 3 years. The funny thing with these inbreds is they usually make a mediocre, to flat out bad hire but then give a huge contract with outrageous buyout to put themselves deeper in the schitter each time. They had to cancel academic scholarships just to afford Butch Jones. What's next, closing the sister-cousin genetic mutations research institute to hire Ron Zook?

I'm curious as to whether the VolNation considers Jones a better option than re-hiring Phil Fulmer would have been. Fulmer obviously loves UT, and has shown that he can win national championships (although granted, that was a while ago).

Re: Dear Coach
Jimmy does a better job picking locations for Pilot stores than head coaches.
I can't help but think this whole Pearl, Kiffin, Dooley mess is karma for Dave Hart taking whining shots at SOS. Somewhere in Cresecnt Beach (or Columbia)there'a some snickering going on. ...and I love it!

Wow. No spin from the dork.
I never thought I'd see the day... I was expecting him to move on from the "Rocky Top Renaissance" to a "Post-Modern Expressionist Movement," or something like that.
How refreshing.

Yikes "Yorkel", not 'til now did we realize UT's zero tolerance meant
the kind of HC you'd tolerate.
The "BJ" jokes won't be sexy, they'll be low-blows over fully-blown
successes.
And "G8rnTtown" spots you 'Mountain Chipmonks" as continuously and
Doolifully collecting nut after nut, and that involves a BJ, blown job.
Our "lagator"/"NepbeachGator"-committee far outshines your
AD/committee by advising you to hire a"hope-history-repeats-itself"
Fulmer HC (hobby-coach) for your Tennerc walker hobbyhorse, that
in "off your rocker" startle-stampede trampled academic schollys.
Keep on with your rep as a full-flow academic drool.

I saw a comment from a vol fan explaining the vol$' downward spiral attached to the si.com article covering Jones' hire. Apparently, it all started when ut raised their academic standards. There's some comic gold for you...
