Well that 70 point explosion against Nebraska surely helped him land a job.

He'll be gone in three years too. These Big 10 and Big 12 scrubs have no idea what they're getting in to.

So, will he still have an issue with the way the SEC recruits?
Interesting hire but probably a solid one for the SEC because he likes to run the ball and play defense.

An interesting development for both conferences. Looking forward to seeing the details of that contract.
Badgers at 8-5 are the first five-loss team to play in the Rose Bowl. They are unranked in the AP Top 25 poll and the BCS. Wiscy isn't even one of the top teams in its conference with five teams having better records.
They're an also-ran coming into the backdoor of the BCS because OSU and PSU are on post-season bans. This should prove to be interesting.

He knows how to recruit Olinemen not much more. Although, the Midwest basically only produces Olineman so maybe it was just a product of his environment.

Very surprising hire. I live in Arkansas, and his name hasn't been mentioned once as a possible candidate all year. Also another thing to consider is can he recruit well in the south? As far as I know his only experience is up north, and I'm not sure what kind of recruiter he is. Arkansas really needs a big time recruiter that can pull guys out of state.
His style of play doesn't really fit with the fanbase attitude either. I remember during the Houston Nutt era, the fans complained all the time that there wasn't much of a passing game even though they were winning the West and had McFadden, Jones, and Hillis in the backfield. I can see the fans turning on him in a few years if the offense is "boring" and he's not pulling out at least 10 win seasons.

When you need TWO teams in front of you to lose in order or be on probation to "win" your division, I don't think you can even call it coming in through the "backdoor".
At that point, it's more like you're clumsily falling through a skylight.

Re: Arkansas New HC....
This is a stupid move for Bielema imo. He is coming from a weaker but still prestigious conference that he would have a good shot at winning every year. He is coming into the toughest division of the toughest conference where he will be lucky to win that division once every ten years. If I were him I would have asked Wiscy for a raise and stayed.

Out from under Alvarez's thumb and shadow, into much nicer facilities, the SEC and more money. Can't blame him for making the move. I just question the wisdom in the hire for Arkansas like so many other are and will.

Excellent hire. He led the Badgers to three straight Big 10 titles. That is extremely impressive considering their prestige compared to some other Big 10 teams. Arkansas is going to be a contender for a long time.

I agree completely he will run back to the slow ten in a few years.
BTW, he has a thing for coeds just like Petrino so I am sure that helped him in the interview

A contender in the Big Ten. Too bad they play in the SEC
