Monte Kiffin resigning from USC

Postby Zach Abolverdi » Thu Nov 29, 2012 10:24 pm

‏@USC_Athletics: USC assistant football coach Monte Kiffin has resigned effective after the bowl game to pursue opportunities in the NFL.

Florida's chances of flipping CB Jalen Ramsey and DE Jason Hatcher as well as keeping LB Quinton Powell committed just got much better.

Orgeron or something like it? He is a complete idiot, but I'm sure that's what Kiffy will do.

Smart man. All of SoCal is hoping the kid follows suit. Hopefully these recruits see the current trends of the programs and make the right choice.

Always respected Monte, but his son Laney can suck a big fat one. Monte doesn't need the milkman's kid soiling his name. Never really thought he was a good fit for the college game anyway, he's a bit too salty.

Would love for Ramsey to drop kiffy and pick UF! I know nothing about Hatcher - how does he compare to Walker? I saw something on Gatorcountry that the UF-f$u game "opened his eyes." What are our chances that we flip him too? And definitely want to keep Powell.

Depending on available spots left, I think if we could get Ramsey, a DE (preferably Walker or E Daniels), an OT like Brown, and either a WR or DT, this class will be insane! If we don't pick up anymore commits, this class is still outstanding.

Go Gators!!!

How old is Monte? 73? What pro team wants him?

If he can’t put together a good defense with USC’s talent advantage in the lightweight PAC 12 how is he going to do it in the pros?

Monte's problem is/was defending the spread. He went all around the country in the off season trying to find out how to do it. He will be and has been pretty good in the pros with stagnant offenses they use.

How do we make room for Ramsey and Hatcher?

Monte trying to be a good dad and take some of the heat off his loser of a son. A lot of people will think the defense was SC's problem. What a laugh.

There may be a chance Gruden and Monte reunite if Gruden lands a coaching job in the NFL again.

I was wondering the very same thing when I heard the news. Maybe this is somking gun in Grudens return to the NFL and not a college gig somewhere.

You can go to the bank on that one. I'll go so far as to speculate Gruden and Kiffen talked about it before Kiffen turned in his resignation.
