Basketball schedule question...
I was putting the basketball schedule in my Outlook and noticed we play Vandy and UT only once... is that new with the 12 team conference?

If you are not free to choose wrongly and irresponsibly, you are not free at all.

It is new this year. Last year when we went to no divisions in basketball all the "East" teams still played each other twice and same with the "West" teams. This was not fair, so they made the schedule like this.

We also play Alabama and Auburn only once. With the new schedule you will have 4 teams you only play 1 time a season and you will play the other teams twice. Every school has 1 opponent that they will play twice every year (UF vs. UK) and the other teams will rotate playing once or twice a year. To sum things up there will always be 4 teams we only play 1 time and the rest we will play twice. We will also play UK twice every year.

Yes, UK is our permanent opponent just like LSU in football.

Look at it as an honor the one of the best basketball programs considers Florida it's rival The only other team that may have been worth playing twice every year could have been UT but UK is really the only team that stays consistent. To be the best you have to beat the best.

Yes, exactly. Its a much better draw IMO. For instance this year UF has a real chance of beating UK twice this year and boosting their RPI. Much better than a Mississippi team twice etc. Its better for recruiting, TV, excitement etc. Plus, as in years prior, come tourney selection time many of the people on the committee consider a loss against a really good team at their house about the same or better in some cases than beating a garbage team.
Its how I feel about the football schedule. UF could easily have scheduled UCF or USF instead of FSU and have a near guaranteed win on Saturday and potentially end up in MNC game if ND loses. However, if UF beats a good FSU team their is no way someone could say any other 1 loss team was more deserving because of SOS.
