Maryland to the Big 10
Just saw that Maryland will be moving to the Big10 : http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/8651934/maryland-terrapins-accept-invitation-join-big-ten
Guess FSU will have to beat Duke every year to claim winner of the ACC.
In all seriousness, I see no way the ACC and Big East can stay relevant unless they start to merge at some point.

This was rumored last week and now that Maryland joins, it's said Rutgers will leave the Big Least to make the Big 10 the Big 14.
Perhaps the ACC and the Big Least will merge.

Maryland? Rutgers?? How exactly does this make the Big10 more relevant?? Good lord.

Ha Ha, you still think its about the game? That's cute. It all about the $$$$. I would not be surprised to see the SEC reach out to some of the ACC teams.

They're a leader in legendarily atrocious uniforms I know that much.

But that's how they get more national exposure than FSU or Clemson!

ESPN reported this morning that the ACC will reach out to Rutgers if Maryland bolts. Also Maryland's board of regents met yesterday for a vote. FSU fans seemed to think that if the ACC seeks out UConn that them and Clemson will bolt for the Big 12. They're out of their damn minds.

Re: Maryland to the Big 10
This has to be sending shockwaves through Tallahassee right now. The weakness of their conference is what is keeping them out of the national title picture this year and now it's only getting weaker. With Miami imposing bans on itself to hedge off the death penalty there is no legitimate powerhouse team in the ACC. As it stands now FSU will be playing a 6-6 GT for it's title game.
They have to be scrambling right now to get out of the ACC. I bet Slive's phone has been ringing off the hook.

It's simple. The Big 14 needs MD and NJ TVs for their network ratings.

What abouttravel costs? How about when Rutgers has to fly all the way to Lincoln, NE, for a game? I guess they'll afford it, but I don't see a lot of Big 10 fans going on road trips. And guess what? Now the Big 10 (er, 12) has to change their logo (which was already tweaked to make it look like there was a 12 inside it) AGAIN
What's the cost of that??And when I talk travel costs, I mean not just football, but: hoops (mens and womens), tennis, golf, baseball, track and field, volleyball, you name it. That's the reason two years ago when the Big XII was talking expansion all the way up to Washington State, I was thinking that they were out of their mind.
It's now wonder Sports Illustrated's Stewart Mandel tweeted yesterday that this expansion was a "monstrosity."

Re: Maryland to the Big 10
The Big 10 gets EVEN WEAKER with the addition of these 2 teams. The only games OSU will maybe lose the next 5 years will be in bowls games to SEC teams most likely.

Line 'em up and UM will knock 'em down. More quality wins.
Maybe the SEC will lure Oklahoma and Kansas State into the fold.
The strong get stronger and weak get weaker.

Why? Why would the Big Ten water themselves down even further by taking in these two? It's not like they have great hoops programs. Are they trying to become the women's hoops power?

Re: Maryland to the Big 10
This should clear the way for FSU and Clemson to join the SEC East and Missouri goes to their natural position in the SEC West.
Expect to hear this right after the SEC championship game.
