Heads up for tomorrow's game

Postby Particularg8r » Fri Nov 16, 2012 2:04 pm

A flight of four A10's (?) have just made a couple passes over the Swamp. Might want to have your cameras ready tomorrow.

Heard them, didn't see them. I figured it was practice for tomorrow's flyover.

Edit to add: If someone grabs a good pic of them during the flyover, I'd be grateful for a copy. They happen to be one of my favorite arrow planes. I'll plus one every one of your posts for like a week in exchange.

k? thnx.

 Same here. I'm willing to +2 all of Jabs +1's.

 The plane that was built around the gun. An angel in the sky and the baddest mofo on the block.

Got to watch them do a demonstration the last time we were stationed at Ft. Bragg. Just awesome!

It might not be for a game day flyover. Could just be Muschamp wanting to make practices tougher by having them straf the practice fields. With just tracers, of course. Don't want to hurt anyone, just scare them a little. He's crazy, but not insane.

Had a roommate who flew the Warthog (Frank, you there?). Only Air Force jet with a calendar instead of an airspeed indicator; the anti-birdstrike screens were on the exhausts, not the intakes; couldn't park them next to swamps 'cause the frogs would try to mate; etc. But as the grunts on this page have noted, they sure could put the fear of the Lord into the bad guys heart.

I seriously thought I was the only person (other than the pilots) who loved the Warthogs. Baddest of the bad***!

AFN had a commercial for the A-10 right about the time that the Bradley was introduced. I think both used Pink Floyd songs in the commercials. Two of my favorites as a little hippie.

They were a great sight to see in the deserts of Kuwait and Iraq. CAS from those guys was ridiculously impressive.

The Warthog has always been my second favorite plane. My favorite will always be the Blackbird. A customer of ours was a radar operator and he tracked an SR-71 at mach 3.2. I got to see one when I was 12 at Warner Robbins Air Force Base. I still get goosebumps just thinking about standing next to the thing.

I was thinking the same thing. Get your cameras ready? you have time to hit the bathroom and get a beer before they get done doing a flyover.

But they are a true killing machine. Just ask the survivors of the highway of death - oh wait, there are none.
