It's not going to end well for Butch Jones.

Both Florida and Georgia are at least a notch better.  Tell Vandy they are not going to make it two in a row.  South Carolina believes they can beat anybody in the East.  SEC East is a steep climb up the mountain, even for a pack of hillbillies.

We pay the big bucks for Butch to turn the program around. Either he does and goes on or looks for another job. Simple as that. By the way have your head coaches performed after the departure of Urban Meyer? Yeah, that's right, they suck the sweat off a dead man's balls.

Money well spent.

I'm sure Tenn will have plenty of talent. Tenn should be good.  The biggest problem it will have , though, is overcoming the mojo Lane Kiffen put on 'em. He cursed the program. The fans embraced that clown, defended  him every time he did wrong and then wanted to burn down the campus when he escaped in the middle of the night. This is your 40 years in the desert. Y'all ain't winning anything until 2055 at the earliest. But  the Wendy's Spicey Chicken Sandwich  Bowl should be fun in January.

When Steve Spurrier treats the Tennessee coach better than the AD and board, you have a problem.  Of course it all goes back to Phil Fulmer.

Fulmer took UT football to the promised land.  It can be done.  That wasn't good enough for these spoiled hillbillies and they sent him packing, one of their own.  Then they hired a string of coaches and paid them tens of millions of dollars to take the Vols from actual to delusional champions.

All these years later Tennessee is still paying for that epic mistake.

Dude, they sent Phil packing for one reason and one reason only. The fans, alumni and administration could no longer tolerate losing to the Florida Gators and Steve Orifice Spurrier aka Visor Boy

That's the irony of it all.  Steve Spurrier set the UT program as far back as he brought Florida ahead.

They stupidly fired Fulmer, a coach who had brought a MNC to UT, the only other since 1951!  Then they hired Lane Kiffin.  You can't make this stuff up.  Derek Dooley followed with a dull thud, which led to the imaginary championship world of Butch Jones

That same level of unreasonable expectation sent SOS to the NFL and eventually USCe,  That would cost Florida for a number of seasons until Meyer resurrected the program.

The difference is today, Tennessee is still reeling from nearly two decades of poor AD leadership.

Of course it was stupid to sack Phi Fulmer. We collectively have only ourselves to blame letting Spurrier and Florida get under our skin.

We are at an interesting point for UT right now with Butch Jones.  What are Vol fans thinking going into this season?

With key players, favorable schedule and other factors seemingly aligned last year, do they really think they'll win the East or the SEC this year?  Are UT people just sitting and waiting for a miracle to happen for Butch Jones and this football team for this season?

We have the demented rah rah fans who actually believe Tennessee will march through the East, destroy Alabama in the SECC and win the National Championship....and we have the vast Majority that only want to kick Florida's ass, win the East and have a wing and a prayer against Alabama in Atlanta.

Sounds a lot like we've been doing the last few years. Trust me, just getting there isn't good enough.

I hope our players are still excited about achieving the goal of winning the East.  All else is possible after that is accomplished.  Tennessee and Georgia would be absolutely delighted to come out of this season with that prize.

It's unfortunate that many Florida fans seem to take winning the East for granted.

When you end the season both years getting ass-raped by FSU and 'Bama, then yes, any satisfaction of getting to the SEC title game is wiped. Notice I didn't say "winning the SEC East." It's not about winning the East. It's about winning the SEC. Winning the East just means we came in second. And in the words of Bull Hurley," second sucks.
