I think True Detective got off to good start, going to be a dark/sick show again, extremely entertaining. Ballers going to be a lot of fun.

Cause the Gators never let you down. They're always here. Every fall, they're here. At 12:00 or at 12:30 or at 3:30 or at 7:00 or at 7:45, there is a game. Does anyone else in your life do that? This is a real family. This is the family that's here for you.

I recorded both.  I will watch them later, need to finish up the first season of True Detective first.

Probably caught the last 30 min. of T.D.  Did not watch the first season but this did look interesting so I will have to watch the next episode.

So this is what we are reduced to during the summer of no Gator sports.  Discussing TV shows...

Well ladies and gentlemen, I don't think any of our contestants this evening have succeeded in encapsulating the intricacies of Proust's masterwork, so I'm going to award the first prize this evening to the girl with the biggest tits...

It is the Lounge.  Offseason or not, people will discuss whatever in this part of the forum.

True Detective looks pretty good so far. I've always enjoyed when comedians play a dark role such as Vince Vaughn in doing in this production. The first season was exceptional. Moves a little slow but worth every minute.

On illegal hits against Danny Wuerffel: "He's like a New Testament person. He gets slapped up side the face, and turns the other cheek and says, 'Lord, forgive them for they know not what they're doing.' I'm probably more of an Old Testament guy. You spear our guy in the earhole, we think we're supposed to spear you in the earhole. That's kind of where we're a little different." - SOS

I love True Detective. How shocking was that ending to episode 2 the other night? Wow. Didn't see that coming.

I think this season is going to be another wild ride. Initially, I noticed a lot of people criticizing it, but I think they've got to understand we're transitioning from that "Southern Gothic" motif last year to a "Los Angeles Noir" type of vibe this year, so it was never going to be the same feel.

Ballers is an interesting concept. Kind of an Entourage with athletes, I've heard it said. I'm not sure it will have enough steam to last beyond 2 seasons from what I've seen so far, but maybe I will be wrong.

First season of TD has been the better season so far.

The first season of TD was one of the best things I've ever watched.

Season two is off to a very slow start, but it picked up a bit at the end of episode two. Perhaps what happened there frees it up for better storytelling, but I have my doubts on that. It seems to me like they believed their hype, and are sort of just emulating what came before - the dark, brooding, muffled voices are almost too much.

I did like that McAdam's character was watching some porn and Kitch's character needed Viagra. Neat way to show you who they are as people.

Vaughn is doing work. Good choice for him and his career.

I'll watch it the rest of the way, regardless.

It's hard to live up to the first season as it was really great and innovative story-telling. I don't mind them mimicking the dark camera shots and whispery voices from the first season as it gives at least a little continuity to the overall series.

So who else was bumping Conway Twitty's The Rose all day today? lol

I agree with the observers who said that episode 3 had a strong David Lynch vibe. I enjoyed it, though.

Seems like this cop show is about corruption (what cop show isn't) and some sex crazed public official that gets wacked.  With a sex theme there is not nearkly enough nudity...

They're betting heavy on serious character development, but I'm not too sure they've done enough to make anyone care about them.

Ferrell's character has been real fun to watch on the show.

I've enjoyed watching Vince Vaughn. It's a pretty unique scenario to have someone who has a real criminal past who seemed to get himself out of that world and now it seems he will have to push himself right back into it. It's a dynamic that could be interesting.

Any thoughts on the TD finale?

Overall thoughts. Watched the entire series. Thought the first season was much better. Found this to be too scattered and confusing at times,

Too much going on in it for me.  Plot had too many variants and seemed disjointed at times.

Incredible amount of talk for a TV series and not enough show. I thought the acting was good but I agree, too much going on. I had no idea who they were talking about half the time. I feel like you needed a chart to keep track of the excessive amount of characters. First season was better by far.
