Florida basketball coach Todd Golden earned a bonus to his salary for guiding UF to the NCAA Tournament in 2024.

Per terms of Golden's six-year contract he signed when he was hired in 2022-23, the second-year UF coach will receive a $37,500 bonus for leading UF to its first-round NCAA Tournament matchup on Friday. The 7-seed Gators (24-11) will face the winner of Wednesday's 10-seed matchup in Dayton, Ohio, between Colorado (24-10) and Boise State (22-10) at Gainbridge Field House in Indianapolis (4:30 p.m., TBS).

That bonus will increase to $75,000 if Florida reaches the Sweet 16, $100,000 if Florida reaches the Final Four and $150,000 if Florida wins the national championship.

Golden's base salary of $3 million ranks 12th out of 14 SEC coaches. But he's in line for a raise. Last week, Golden agreed to terms to a contract extension through 2029-30 that will increase his average salary to $4 million. The deal is pending approval of UF's compensation committee.

Golden was asked about the extension following UF's 102-88 SEC Tournament quarterfinals win over Alabama on Friday night. He's led UF to a 40-28 record and two straight postseason appearances in two seasons.

"Obviously it feels great," Golden said. "Appreciate the trust and belief that our administration has in myself and our staff, what we've built in a short period of time."
